Mira con bondad, te suplicamos, Dios omnipotente, a esta tu familia, por la cual nuestro Señor Jesucristo aceptó ser traicionado y entregado a hombres crueles, y sufrir muerte en la cruz; quien vive ahora y reina contigo y el Espíritu Santo, un solo Dios, por los siglos de los siglos.

LA PASIÓN
La Pasión de nuestro Señor Jesucristo
según San Juan.
(San Juan 19:1-37)
Pilatos, pues, tomó entonces a Jesús y le azotó.
Y los soldados tejieron una corona de espinas, la pusieron sobre su cabeza y le vistieron con un manto de púrpura; y acercándose a Él, le decían: ¡Salve, Rey de los judíos! Y le daban bofetadas.
Pilatos salió otra vez, y les dijo: Mirad, os lo traigo fuera, para que sepáis que no encuentro ningún delito en El. Jesús entonces salió fuera llevando la corona de espinas y el manto de púrpura. Y Pilatos les dijo: ¡He aquí el Hombre!
Entonces, cuando le vieron los principales sacerdotes y los alguaciles, gritaron, diciendo: ¡Crucifícale! ¡Crucifícale! Pilatos les dijo: Tomadle vosotros, y crucificadle, porque yo no encuentro ningún delito en El.
Los judíos le respondieron: Nosotros tenemos una ley, y según esa ley El debe morir, porque pretendió ser el Hijo de Dios.
Entonces Pilatos, cuando oyó estas palabras, se atemorizó aún más.
Entró de nuevo al Pretorio y dijo a Jesús: ¿De dónde eres tú? Pero Jesús no le dio respuesta. Pilatos entonces le dijo: ¿A mí no me hablas? ¿No sabes que tengo autoridad para soltarte, y que tengo autoridad para crucificarte? Jesús respondió: Ninguna autoridad tendrías sobre mí si no te hubiera sido dada de arriba; por eso el que me entregó a ti tiene mayor pecado.
Como resultado de esto, Pilatos procuraba soltarle, pero los judíos gritaron, diciendo: Si sueltas a éste, no eres amigo del César; todo el que se hace rey se opone al César.
Entonces Pilatos, cuando oyó estas palabras, sacó fuera a Jesús y se sentó en el tribunal, en un lugar llamado el Empedrado, y en hebreo Gabata. Y era el día de la preparación para la Pascua; era como la hora sexta.
Y Pilatos dijo a los judíos: He aquí vuestro Rey.
Entonces ellos gritaron: ¡Fuera! ¡Fuera! ¡Crucifícale! Pilatos les dijo: ¿He de crucificar a vuestro Rey? Los principales sacerdotes respondieron: No tenemos más rey que el César.
Así que entonces le entregó a ellos para que fuera crucificado.
Todos los que puedan se ponen de pie.
Tomaron, pues, a Jesús, y El salió cargando su cruz al sitio llamado el Lugar de la Calavera, que en hebreo se dice Gólgota, donde le crucificaron, y con El a otros dos, uno a cada lado y Jesús en medio.
Pilatos también escribió un letrero y lo puso sobre la cruz. Y estaba escrito: JESUS EL NAZARENO, EL REY DE LOS JUDIOS. Entonces muchos judíos leyeron esta inscripción, porque el lugar donde Jesús fue crucificado quedaba cerca de la ciudad; y estaba escrita en hebreo, en latín y en griego. Por eso los principales sacerdotes de los judíos decían a Pilatos: No escribas, "el Rey de los judíos"; sino que El dijo: "Yo soy Rey de los judíos." Pilatos respondió: Lo que he escrito, he escrito.
Entonces los soldados, cuando crucificaron a Jesús, tomaron sus vestidos e hicieron cuatro partes, una parte para cada soldado. Y tomaron también la túnica; y la túnica era sin costura, tejida en una sola pieza. Por tanto, se dijeron unos a otros: No la rompamos; sino echemos suertes sobre ella, para ver de quién será; para que se cumpliera la Escritura:
"repartieron entre si mis vestidos, y sobre mi ropa echaron suertes."
Por eso los soldados hicieron esto.
Y junto a la cruz de Jesús estaban su madre, y la hermana de su madre, María, la mujer de Cleofás, y María Magdalena. Y cuando Jesús vio a su madre, y al discípulo a quien El amaba que estaba allí cerca, dijo a su madre: ¡Mujer, he ahí tu hijo! Después dijo al discípulo: ¡He ahí tu madre! Y desde aquella hora el discípulo la recibió en su propia casa.
Después de esto, sabiendo Jesús que todo se había ya consumado, para que se cumpliera la Escritura, dijo: Tengo sed. Había allí una vasija llena de vinagre; colocaron, pues, una esponja empapada del vinagre en una rama de hisopo, y se la acercaron a la boca. Entonces Jesús, cuando hubo tomado el vinagre, dijo: ¡Consumado es! E inclinando la cabeza, entregó el espíritu.
Los judíos entonces, como era el día de preparación para la Pascua, a fin de que los cuerpos no se quedaran en la cruz el día de reposo (porque ese día de reposo era muy solemne), pidieron a Pilatos que les quebraran las piernas y se los llevaran. Fueron, pues, los soldados y quebraron las piernas del primero, y también las del otro que había sido crucificado con Jesús; pero cuando llegaron a Jesús, como vieron que ya estaba muerto, no le quebraron las piernas; pero uno de los soldados le traspasó el costado con una lanza, y al momento salió sangre y agua. Y el que lo ha visto ha dado testimonio, y su testimonio es verdadero; y él sabe que dice la verdad, para que vosotros también creáis. Porque esto sucedió para que se cumpliera la Escritura:
NO SERA QUEBRADO HUESO SUYO.

Almighty God, we beseech thee graciously to behold this thy family, for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was contented to be betrayed, and given into the hands of sinners, and to suffer death upon the cross; who now liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

THE PASSION
The Passion of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John.
(John 19:1-37)
Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged.
And the soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they dressed him in a purple robe. They kept coming up to him, saying, ‘Hail, King of the Jews!’ and striking him on the face.
Pilate went out again and said to them, ‘Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no case against him.’ So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, ‘Here is the man!’
When the chief priests and the police saw him, they shouted, ‘Crucify him! Crucify him!’ Pilate said to them, ‘Take him yourselves and crucify him; I find no case against him.’
The Jews answered him, ‘We have a law, and according to that law he ought to die because he has claimed to be the Son of God.’
Now when Pilate heard this, he was more afraid than ever.
He entered his headquarters again and asked Jesus, ‘Where are you from?’ But Jesus gave him no answer. Pilate therefore said to him, ‘Do you refuse to speak to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you, and power to crucify you?’ Jesus answered him, ‘You would have no power over me unless it had been given you from above; therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.’
From then on Pilate tried to release him, but the Jews cried out, ‘If you release this man, you are no friend of the emperor. Everyone who claims to be a king sets himself against the emperor.’
When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus outside and sat on the judge’s bench at a place called The Stone Pavement, or in Hebrew, Gabbatha. Now it was the day of Preparation for the Passover; and it was about noon.
He said to the Jews, ‘Here is your King!’
They cried out, ‘Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!’ Pilate asked them, ‘Shall I crucify your King?’ The chief priests answered, ‘We have no king but the emperor.’
Then he handed him over to them to be crucified.
Please stand, as you are able.
So they took Jesus; and carrying the cross by himself, he went out to what is called The Place of the Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha. There they crucified him, and with him two others, one on either side, with Jesus between them.
Pilate also had an inscription written and put on the cross. It read, ‘Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.’ Many of the Jews read this inscription, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek. Then the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, ‘Do not write, “The King of the Jews”, but, “This man said, I am King of the Jews.” ’ Pilate answered, ‘What I have written I have written.’
When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four parts, one for each soldier. They also took his tunic; now the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece from the top. So they said to one another, ‘Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it to see who will get it.’ This was to fulfill what the scripture says,
‘They divided my clothes among themselves, and for my clothing they cast lots.’
And that is what the soldiers did.
Meanwhile, standing near the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside her, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, here is your son.’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Here is your mother.’ And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.
After this, when Jesus knew that all was now finished, he said (in order to fulfil the scripture), ‘I am thirsty.’ A jar full of sour wine was standing there. So they put a sponge full of the wine on a branch of hyssop and held it to his mouth.
When Jesus had received the wine, he said, ‘It is finished.’ Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
Since it was the day of Preparation, the Jews did not want the bodies left on the cross during the sabbath, especially because that sabbath was a day of great solemnity. So they asked Pilate to have the legs of the crucified men broken and the bodies removed. Then the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and of the other who had been crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once blood and water came out. (He who saw this has testified so that you also may believe. His testimony is true, and he knows that he tells the truth.) These things occurred so that the scripture might be fulfilled,
‘None of his bones shall be broken.’
And again another passage of scripture says,
‘They will look on the one whom they have pierced.’

Diácono: Amado Pueblo de Dios: Nuestro Padre celestial envió a su Hijo al mundo no para condenarlo, sino para que el mundo, por medio de él, pudiera ser salvo; para que cuantos creen en él sean librados del poder del pecado y de la muerte, y lleguen a ser herederos con él de la vida sempiterna.
Por tanto, oremos por todas las personas en todos los lugares, según sus necesidades.
Oremos por la santa Iglesia Católica de Cristo esparcida por todo el mundo;
Por su unidad en el testimonio y servicio;
Por todos los obispos y demás ministros, y por el pueblo al que sirven;

Cuando Jesús vio a su madre, y junto a ella al discípulo a quien él quería mucho, dijo a su madre: ‘Mujer, ahí tienes a tu hijo.’ Luego le dijo al discípulo, ‘Ahí tienes a tu madre.’ Desde entonces, ese discípulo la recibió en su casa. (Juan 19:26-27)
A las tres de la tarde Jesús grito con fuerza: ‘Eloi, Eloi, lema sabactani? ’que significa, ‘Dios mío, Dios mío, por que me has abandonado?’ (Marcos 15:34)

Deacon: Dear People of God: Our heavenly Father sent his Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world through him might be saved; that all who believe in him might be delivered from the power of sin and death, and become heirs with him of everlasting life.
We pray, therefore, for people everywhere according to their needs.
Let us pray for the holy Catholic Church of Christ throughout the world;
For its unity in witness and service;
For all bishops and other ministers
and the people whom they serve;
For Andrew our Bishop,
and all the people of this diocese;
For all Christians in this community;
For those about to be baptized;
That God will confirm His Church in faith,
increase it in love, and preserve it in peace.

Let us commit ourselves to God, and pray for the grace of a holy life, that, with all who have departed this world and have died in the peace of Christ, and those whose faith is known to God alone, we may be accounted worthy to enter into the fullness of the joy of our Lord, and receive the crown of life in the day of resurrection.
O God of unchangeable power and eternal light: Look favorably on your whole Church, that wonderful and sacred mystery; by the effectual working of your providence, carry out in tranquility the plan of salvation; let the whole world see and know that things which were cast down are being raised up, and things which had grown old are being made new, and that all things are being brought to their perfection by him through whom all things were made, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

PRIMERA ESTACIÓN:
Jesús es condenado a muerte

Pueblo: Que por tu santa cruz
has redimido al mundo.
Muy de mañana, habiendo tenido consejo los principales sacerdotes con los ancianos, con los escribas y con todo el concilio, llevaron a Jesús atado, y le entregaron a Pilatos. Y todos le condenaron diciendo: "Merece morir". Cuando Pilatos oyó estas palabras, llevó fuera a Jesús, y se sentó en el tribunal en un lugar llamado el Enlosado, y en hebreo Gábata. Entonces les entregó a Jesús para que fuese crucificado.
Oficiante: Dios perdonó a su propio Hijo:
Pueblo: Antes lo entregó por todos nosotros.
Oficiante: Oremos.
Dios todopoderoso, cuyo muy amado Hijo no ascendió al gozo de tu presencia sin antes padecer, ni entró en gloria sin antes ser crucificado: Concédenos, por tu misericordia, que nosotros, caminando por la vía de la cruz, encontremos que ésta es la vía de la vida y de la paz; por Jesucristo tu Hijo nuestro Señor.

Jesús salió, cargando su cruz, al lugar llamado de la Calavera, y en hebreo, Gólgota. Y aunque era Hijo, por lo que padeció aprendió obediencia. Como cordero fue llevado al matadero; y como oveja delante de sus trasquiladores, enmudeció, y no abrió su boca. El Cordero que fue inmolado es digno de tomar el poder, las riquezas, la sabiduría, la fortaleza, la honra, la gloria, la alabanza.
Oficiante: El Señor cargó en él el pecado de todos:
Pueblo: Por las transgresiones de mi pueblo
fue muerto.
Oficiante: Oremos.
Dios todopoderoso, cuyo amado Hijo sufrió voluntariamente la agonía y el oprobio de la cruz por nuestra redención: Danos valor para tomar nuestra cruz y seguirle; quien vive y reina por los siglos de los siglos.

Jesús cae por primera vez
Oficiante: Te adoramos, oh Cristo,

Pueblo: Que por tu santa cruz
has redimido al mundo.
Cristo Jesús, siendo en forma de Dios, no estimó el ser igual a Dios como cosa a qué aferrarse, sino que se despojó a sí mismo, tomando forma de siervo, hecho semejante a los hombres; y estando en la condición de hombre, se humilló a sí mismo, haciéndose obediente hasta la muerte, y muerte de cruz. Por lo cual Dios también le exaltó hasta lo sumo, y le dio un nombre que es sobre todo nombre. Vengan, inclinémonos, doblemos la rodilla, y postrémonos delante del Señor nuestro Hacedor, porque él es el Señor nuestro Dios.
Oficiante: Ciertamente llevó él nuestras enfermedades:

Oh Dios, que nos hallamos rodeados de tantos
y tan grandes peligros, que a causa de la fragilidad de nuestra naturaleza no podemos estar siempre firmes: Concédenos la fortaleza y la protección necesarias para sostenernos en todo peligro,

Jesús encuentra a su afligida madre

¿A quién te haré semejante, hija de Jerusalén? ¿A quién te compararé para consolarte, oh virgen hija de Sión? Porque grande como el mar es tu quebrantamiento. Bienaventurados los que lloran, porque ellos recibirán consolación. El Señor será tu luz eterna, y tus días de duelo terminarán.

FIRST STATION:
Jesus is Condemned to Death
Officiant: We adore you, O Christ,
and we bless you:
People: Because by your holy cross
you have redeemed the world.
As soon as it was morning, the chief priests, with the elders and scribes, and the whole council, held a consultation; and they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him to Pilate. And they all condemned him and said, “He deserves to die.” When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus out and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. Then he handed Jesus over to them to be crucified.
Officiant: God did not spare his own Son
People: But delivered him up for us all.
Officiant: Let us pray.
Almighty God, whose most dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord.

SECOND STATION:
Jesus takes up his Cross
Officiant: We adore you, O Christ,

People: Because by your holy cross
you have redeemed the world.
Jesus went out, bearing his own cross, to the place called the place of a skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha. Although he was a Son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. Like a lamb he was led to the slaughter; and like a sheep that before its shearers is mute, so he opened not his mouth. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.
Officiant: The Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all:
People: For the transgression of my people
was he stricken.
Officiant: Let us pray.
Almighty God, whose beloved Son willingly endured the agony and shame of the cross for our redemption: Give us courage to take up our cross and follow him; who lives and reigns for ever and ever.

Jesus falls the first time

People: Because by your holy cross

Christ Jesus, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped; but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, and was born in human likeness. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him, and bestowed on him the name which is above every name. Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee, and kneel before the Lord our Maker, for he is the Lord our God.
Officiant: Surely he has borne our griefs:
People: And carried our sorrows.
Officiant: Let us pray.
O God, you know us to be set in the midst of so many and great dangers, that by reason of the frailty of our nature we cannot always stand upright: Grant us such strength and protection as may support us in all dangers, and carry us through all temptations; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus meets his afflicted mother
Officiant: We adore you, O Christ,
and we bless you:
People: Because by your holy cross
you have redeemed the world.
To what can I liken you, to what can I compare you, O daughter of Jerusalem? What likeness can I use to comfort you, O virgin daughter of Zion? For vast as the sea is your ruin. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. The Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended.
Officiant: A sword will pierce your own soul also:
Pueblo: And fill your heart with bitter pain.

La cruz es puesta sobre Simón de Cirene

Cuando salían, hallaron a un hombre de Cirene que se llamaba Simón, que venía del campo, y le pusieron encima la cruz para que la llevase tras Jesús. "Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, y tome su cruz y sígame. Lleven mi yugo sobre ustedes, y aprendan de mí; porque mi yugo es fácil, y ligera mi carga".
Oficiante: El que no lleva su cruz
y viene en pos de mí:
Pueblo: No puede ser mi discípulo.

Padre Celestial, cuyo bendito Hijo no vino para ser servido sino para servir: Bendice a todos aquellos, que siguiendo sus pisadas, se dan a sí mismos al servicio de los demás; que con sabiduría, paciencia y valor ministren en su Nombre a los que sufren, a los desamparados, y a los necesitados; por aquél que dio su vida por nosotros, tu Hijo nuestro Salvador Jesucristo.

Una mujer enjuga el rostro de Jesús
Oficiante: Te adoramos, oh Cristo,

Pueblo: Que por tu santa cruz
has redimido al mundo.
Lo hemos visto sin belleza ni esplendor, su aspecto no era nada atrayente; fue despreciado y rebajado. Era un hombre lleno de dolor, acostumbrado al sufrimiento. Lo despreciamos como a alguien que no merece ser visto, no lo tuvimos en cuenta y sin embargo él estaba cansado con nuestros sufrimientos, estaba soportando nuestros propios dolores. Mas él fue herido por nuestras rebeliones, molido por nuestros pecados; el castigo de nuestra paz cayó sobre él, y por su llaga hemos sido sanados.
Oficiante: Restáuranos, oh Señor Dios de los ejércitos:
Pueblo: Muestra la luz de tu rostro,
y seremos salvos.
Oficiante: Oremos.
Oh Dios, que antes de la pasión de tu unigénito Hijo, revelaste su gloria en el monte santo: Concede que, al contemplar por fe la luz de su rostro, seamos fortalecidos para llevar nuestra cruz y ser transformados a su imagen de gloria en gloria; por Jesucristo nuestro Señor.

Ciertamente él llevó nuestras enfermedades, y sufrió nuestros dolores. Todos nosotros nos descarriamos como ovejas, cada cual se apartó por su camino; mas el Señor cargó en él todos nuestros pecados. Angustiado él, y afligido, no abrió su boca. Por la transgresión de mi pueblo fue abatido.
Oficiante: Mas yo soy gusano, y no hombre:
Pueblo: Oprobio de todos,
y despreciado del pueblo.

Y seguía a Jesús gran multitud del pueblo, entre ellos mujeres que lloraban y se lamentaban por él. Pero Jesús, vuelto hacia ellas, les dijo: "Hijas de Jerusalén, no lloren por mí, sino lloren por ustedes mismas y por sus hijos".

The Cross is laid on Simon of Cyrene

People: Because by your holy cross
you have redeemed the world.
As they led Jesus away, they came upon a man of Cyrene, Simon by name, who was coming in from the country, and laid on him the cross to carry it behind Jesus. “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Officiant: Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me:
People: Cannot be my disciple.
Officiant: Let us pray.
Heavenly Father, whose blessed Son came not to be served but to serve: Bless all who, following in his steps, give themselves to the service of others; that with wisdom, patience, and courage, they may minister in his Name to the suffering, the friendless, and the needy; for the love of him who laid down his life for us, your Son our Savior Jesus Christ.

A woman wipes the face of Jesus

People: Because by your holy cross

We have seen him without beauty or majesty, with no looks to attract our eyes. He was despised and rejected by men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces, he was despised, and we esteemed him not. His appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance, and his form beyond that of the children of men. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that made us whole, and with his stripes we are healed.
Officiant: Restore us, O Lord God of hosts:
People: Show the light of your countenance, and we shall be saved.
Officiant: Let us pray.
O God, who before the passion of your only-begotten Son revealed his glory upon the holy mountain: Grant to us that we, beholding by faith the light of his countenance, may be strengthened to bear our cross, and be changed into his likeness from glory to glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth. For the transgression of my people was he stricken.

and despised by the people.

Almighty and everliving God, in your tender love for the human race you sent your Son our Savior Jesus Christ to take upon him our nature, and to suffer death upon the cross, giving us the

Yo soy el hombre que ha visto aflicción bajo la vara de su enojo. Me guió y me llevó en tinieblas, y no en luz. Edificó baluartes contra mí, y me rodeó de amargura y de trabajo. Me dejó en oscuridad, como los ya muertos de mucho tiempo. Aun cuando clamé y di voces, cerró los oídos a mi oración. Mis dientes quebró con cascajo, me cubrió de ceniza. Acuérdate de mi aflicción y de mi abatimiento, del ajenjo y de la hiel.

Jesús es despojado de sus vestiduras

Pueblo: Que por tu santa cruz
has redimido al mundo.
Cuando llegaron a un lugar llamado Gólgota, que significa de la Calavera, le dieron a beber vinagre mezclado con hiel; pero después de haberlo probado, no quiso beberlo. Y repartieron entre sí sus vestiduras, echando suertes. Esto fue para que se cumpliese la Escritura, que dice: "Repartieron entre sí mis vestiduras, y sobre mi ropa echaron suertes".
Oficiante: Hiel me dieron a comer:
Pueblo: Y cuando tuve sed
me dieron a beber vinagre.
Oficiante: Oremos.
Señor Dios, cuyo bendito Hijo nuestro Salvador entregó su cuerpo a los azotes y su rostro al esputo: Otórganos tu gracia para soportar gozosamente los sufrimientos de esta vida temporal, confiados en la gloria que ha de ser revelada; por Jesucristo nuestro Señor.

Jesús es clavado a la cruz

Cuando llegaron al lugar llamado de la Calavera, le crucificaron allí; y con él crucificaron a dos malhechores, uno a la derecha y otro a la izquierda, y Jesús entre ellos. Y se cumplió la Escritura que dice: "Y fue contado con los inicuos".
Oficiante: Horadaron mis manos y pies:
Pueblo: Ellos me miran y me observan.
Oficiante: Oremos. (Silencio)
Señor Jesucristo, tú extendiste tus brazos amorosos sobre el cruel madero de la cruz, para estrechar a todos los hombres en tu abrazo salvador: Revístenos con tu Espíritu de tal manera que, extendiendo nuestras manos en amor, llevemos a quienes no te conocen a reconocerte y amarte; por el honor de tu Nombre.

Cuando Jesús hubo tomado el vinagre, dijo: "Consumado es". Y entonces clamando a gran voz dijo: "Padre, en tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu". Y habiendo inclinado la cabeza, entregó el espíritu.

Jesus falls a third time

I am the man who has seen affliction under the rod of his wrath; he has driven and brought me into darkness without any light. He has besieged me and enveloped me with bitterness and tribulation; he has made me dwell in darkness like the dead of long ago. Though I call and cry for help, he shuts out my prayer. He has made my teeth grind on gravel, and made me cower in ashes. “Remember, O Lord, my affliction and bitterness, the wormwood and the gall!”
Officiant: He was led like a lamb to the slaughter:
People: And like a sheep that before its shearers is mute, so he opened not his mouth.

O God, by the passion of your blessed Son
you made an instrument of shameful death
to be for us the means of life: Grant us so to glory in the cross of Christ, that we may gladly

Jesus is stripped of his garments

People: Because by your holy cross
you have redeemed the world.
When they came to a place called Golgotha (which means the place of a skull), they offered him wine to drink, mingled with gall; but when he tasted it, he would not drink it. And they divided his garments among them by casting lots. This was to fulfill the scripture which says, “They divided my garments among them; they cast lots for my clothing.”
Officiant: They gave me gall to eat:
People: And when I was thirsty they gave me vinegar to drink.
Officiant: Let us pray.
Lord God, whose blessed Son our Savior gave his body to be whipped and his face to be spit upon: Give us grace to accept joyfully the sufferings of the present time, confident of the glory that shall be revealed; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus is nailed to the Cross
Officiant: We adore you, O Christ,

People: Because by your holy cross
you have redeemed the world.
When they came to the place which is called The Skull, there they crucified him; and with him they crucified two criminals, one on the right, the other on the left, and Jesus between them. And the scripture was fulfilled which says, “He was numbered with the transgressors.”
Officiant: They pierce my hands and my feet:
People: They stare and gloat over me.
Officiant: Let us pray.
Lord Jesus Christ, you stretched out your arms of love on the hard wood of the cross that everyone might come within the reach of your saving embrace: So clothe us in your Spirit that we, reaching forth our hands in love, may bring those who do not know you to the knowledge and love of you; for the honor of your Name.

Jesus dies on the Cross

When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And when Jesus had received the vinegar, he said, “It is finished!” And then, crying with a loud voice, he said, “Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.” And he bowed his head, and handed over his spirit.

People: Even death on a cross.

Todos ustedes los que pasan, miren y vean si hay dolor como mi dolor. Mis ojos desfallecieron de lágrimas, se conmovieron mis entrañas; mi corazón fue derramado a causa del quebrantamiento de mi pueblo. "No me llamen Noemí (que significa placentera), sino llámenme Mara (que significa amarga); porque en grande amargura me ha puesto el todopoderoso".
Oficiante: Sus lágrimas ruedan por sus mejillas:
Pueblo: No tiene quien la consuele.
Oficiante: Oremos.
Señor Jesucristo, por tu muerte quitaste el aguijón de la muerte: Concede a tus siervos que caminemos de tal modo donde tú nos has precedido, que al fin durmamos apaciblemente en ti, y despertemos a tu semejanza; por amor de tu tierna misericordia.

Jesús es puesto en la tumba

Cuando llegó la noche, vino un hombre rico de Arimatea, llamado José, quien también era un discípulo de Jesús. Este fue a Pilatos y pidió el cuerpo de Jesús. Entonces Pilatos mandó que se le diese. Y tomando José el cuerpo, lo envolvió en una sábana limpia, y lo puso en su sepulcro nuevo, que había labrado en la peña; y rodó una gran piedra a la entrada del sepulcro.
Oficiante: No me abandonarás en el sepulcro:
Pueblo: Ni permitirás que tu Santo
vea corrupción.
Oficiante: Oremos.
Oh Dios, tu bendito Hijo fue puesto en la tumba en un huerto, y descansó en el día del sábado: Concede que nosotros, los que hemos sido sepultados con él en las aguas del bautismo, encontremos nuestro perfecto descanso en su eterno y glorioso reino; donde él vive y reina por los siglos de los siglos.

When it was evening, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who also was a disciple of Jesus. He went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given to him. And Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud, and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn in the rock; and he rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb.
Officiant: You will not abandon me to the grave:
People: Nor let your holy One see corruption.
Officiant: Let us pray.
O God, your blessed Son was laid in a tomb in a garden, and rested on the Sabbath day: Grant that we who have been buried with him in the waters of baptism may find our perfect rest in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where he lives and reigns for ever and ever.
