Fr. Luis Gomez was born on June 24, 1964 in Gualaceo, Ecuador, and was raised Roman Catholic.
He attended the Colegio Orientalista Salesiano de Cuenca, from which he graduated in June 1982. He studied philosophy at Seminario Mayor de San José, in Quito, Ecuador, and from 1985, studied theology at Seminario Mayor San León Magno, in Cuenca, Ecuador.
In 1987, he received Minor Orders at the Catedral de la Inmaculada Concepción, also in Cuenca, Ecuador.
In 1988, he emigrated to New York. In 1989, he became a member of the Episcopal Church of Saint Matthew and Saint Timothy. In 2003, he began his studies at General Theological Seminary and at Empire State College. In 2009, he earned a Bachelor of Science at Empire State College.
On March 13, 2010, he was ordained as Transitional Deacon, and in June, 2010, he earned his Masters of Divinity from General Theological Seminary. He was ordained priest on September 25, 2010. In 2011, he completed studies in Continuing Professional Education (C.P.E.), became a Chaplain at Calvary Hospital, and began working as Assistant Priest at Holyrood Church in Manhattan. In 2012, he became an Associate Priest at Holy Apostles Church, and on June 30, 2013, he began as Assistant Priest at the Church of the Intercession.
He is married to Ms. Carmen Hajal, and they have a son, George.
He has two brothers and one sister.
